Provided it is a standard plate, any reason why having the numberplate in the window would be regarded as naughty?

Is this so they can accidently 'Fall over'?

Motor traders get away with putting trade plates in the window.

Sorry Herts, in the screen is illegal.
The official blurb is contained in part ii of the Vehicle excise and registration act 1994. This states (in normal english) that a plate has to be fixed on the front of the vehicle "vertically or as near to vertical as is reasonably practicable and in such a position that, in normal daylight, the characters are easily distinguishable from every part of the relevant area"....bla bla
It then goes on about spacings, italics etc (regulation 11).
Phew, I was nearly sensible then.
Mike.
