I'm going to the Pistonheads meet at Wadhurst on the 18th Feb. I would love to bring my German Shepherd along, and I've been looking at the Halfords website and their 'dog harness'. Has anyone any experience of this? I plan on getting a cheap rubber or plastic seat cover, but I'm more interested in harnesses, and their ability to hold a dog still. Shes not a hyper dog, but will obviously be a typical dog and want to move around a bit and stick her head out the window! Any experiences of dog transport in an Elise (and I don't imagine there will be many!) would be appreciated....

Hope to see a few of you there (I'll be the tall dark-haired handsome devil with the dog.....) wink

Ooh, didn't know this was on. Give me a nudge and remind me a few days before and I'll pop over. May even bring some Bacon Butties so you can avoid the queue wink

I use a "Roadie" harness for my Buhund. Seat belt passes through a loop of which there are two, depending on how much freedom of movement you want to give the dog. She just curls up on the seat for most of the time so she's no hassle.

Taken mine in the Elise a few times. I line the passenger footwell area with a couple of his fleecy blankets and he's quite happy to bed down there. He's big enough to practically fill that area so just puts his head on the edge of the seat or the centre console which can be a touch annoying when changing gear.

I was thinking yesterday about putting my Dobermann in the Elise. Not sure he would fit in though. If he saw another dog he would go crazy. We normally put him in a cage, but this obviously doesnt fit in an Elise!

As above, I just put a couple of blankets on the floor and have no problems. It's worth covering the sill for getting in and out though, as they can get a bit scratched.

Probably use a harness with the rof off though, just to be on the safe side.

Our dog (a Spanador) is petrified of the car - I fear that may be my inability to tailor my driving skills with respect to my passenger.....

If you are seriously planning on getting a dobe, let me know. I have a lot of links in with Dobe rescue. We got ours from there. He has full papers and has done very well in Championship shows. He comes from an excellent blood line, yet cost us nothing. We got him when he was 2 as well, so not too old. I would recommend getting one from there, rather than shelling out over £600 for a pup. There are lots of dogs out there that need homes!

2 of my 3 dogs travel in the 'Liz without a worry (Not at the same time)
Dee Dee doesnt particularly love the car but is happy to travel in it. She sits in the passenger seat and leans into the corners. Dee has been driven around regularly sice she was 6 weeks old. Daisy the bigger of the 2, loves the car. Whe bored she rests her head on my shoulder!

It isnt a problem, both dogs are relaxed in the car and I cover the seat with a blanket. I do drive a little more gently when the dogs are in the car!

My sheep dog rides in mine with no problem. I picked up a few plastic bag style seat covers from the local garage and throw an old coat for her to sit on.

My Mastiff used to sit on the passenger seat with her front feet in the footwell.

Got loads of the "pulled a bit of a dog there" comments....smile
