HI

Just bought another TVR chim, its great, however the central locking is dead. If you turn the key and hold it... nothing. If you press the little button on the door opener... nothing.

Any ideas what it could be, where I can look?

I have the bible second edition (Steve Heath) but can find anything in it

Any help much appreciated

I had this. First question, is the locking dead from both doors? It should work from either side.

Are you pushing the key down slightly as you turn it? The amount you have to push it in as you turn it varies, it's just trial and error.

I think that it all goes back to the control module under the dash if the whole thing is dead. My buttin on the central knob doesn't work either. Haven't investigated though.

My Chimp's remote would only work if you were in exactly the right spot (driver side door, in eye-sight of the blinking light)...

Or is it simply a flat battery?

HI, There is no fob with the Chim, just keys. I have tried pushing it down to different depths and no joy frown
Also both sides dont work, neither does the little central locking button on the door release knob .. damn electrics

Do you know where to look for the electrical parts to the central locking? Fuses, relays etc?

Hi, Update on the central locking not working,
The switches under the doors (that control the inner light) dont seem to be working either? Does anyone know which fuse controlls those switches. The light works fine if you switch it on, but it wont come on automatically.
I think maybe this issue has something to do with the central locking too??

Try the 15A one 8th from the right of the fuse panel in the passengers foot well. Jon.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion, just went outside to have alook at the fuses, and got a bit carried away , ended up taking the dash off smile
All the fuses in the footwell were fine, under the dash , in the central locking box, there was a tubular fuse gone, I changed this and the central locking works fine!

However the inner light still doesnt work when the door is open, I have tried both doors neither work the light. Any Ideas?

It's common for the relay to stop working (really long one), I just took mine out and have never got round to getting a new one (£30 from dealer!). I plan to keep an eye out next time I go to a scrappy.

Hi - I see from the thread that there appears to be a tubular fuse in the central locing "box". Before I go for it and take off the top of the dashboard, do you have any ideas what the fuse is? I'd hate to be stuck with the dash off, and no way to get to a hop to find a new one!!
