Dear Sirs

Your front page story reported a backlash against the police from Shropshire people being prosecuted for minor speed limit transgressions courtesy of the “Safety” Camera Partnership. Bennett’s Bank has been mentioned many times though camera vans also lurk on Shropshire roads where we could previously concentrate on safe driving rather than precision of speed.

West Mercia Constabulary is one of seven participants in the Partnership. However it is operated by egotistical civilian staff issuing pompous statements such as “leniency and flexibility for drivers is a thing of the past”. Who the hell do they think they are?

Traffic police use their discretion and intelligence when policing our roads and, when it comes to speed, focus more upon excess and inappropriate speed rather than minor transgressions. However, unlike “safety cameras” as they are euphemistically called, traffic police address all bad or unsafe driving. To the “Safety” Camera Partnership it is of no consequence if people drive dangerously, incompetently or in a drunken state as long as they are beneath speed limits.

Let’s hope West Mercia doesn’t follow the example of some other regions and put many of our traffic police back on foot now that speed cameras are doing the “policing”.

Unfortunately it is the local police officers who will be on the receiving end of any backlash as a result of the Partnership’s policies and pomposity. Focus your resentment on the Partnership and the Chief Constable, not the local police.

Whilst you weren't paying attention we have all been brainwashed and believe that Safety Camera things are the best thing since sliced bread!

Come to think about it why sliced bread?

Absolutelt not mate! Ive just sent these fascists an email myself with a question they will find unable to answer either honestly, or that will put them in a good light.
Wanna know what it is? I asked this:
The partnership has declared that over 3000 motorists have been caught by this speed camera, and that they have "made" over £190,000. Now, can you tell me how many LIVES this camera has SAVED?

I think we need to concentrate on their fixation with drivers caught and cash raised, and compare it with actual lives saved. Then the sham becomes exposed.
Money and profit over safety, every-single-time.

Good Effort Reg...

It's always good to see people getting involved with the campaign against these bastards. Keep it up - everyone should write to local papers, chief constable, fax your mp, necklace a gatso...

well.. umm.. maybe not the last one.. well okay then - just the one, if you insist..
