I'm getting a fair whack back from the tax man!!! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

'Er indoors thinks it's going in the bank.....laughlaugh

Let the quest for horses begin!!!

I'm thinking sprots pac, rip shifter, and road response pac.....

Wouldn't mind upgrading the brakes at some point, and putting some fatter rubber on, but I think these may have to wait a bit. I'm driving a standard CV8, is there a good brake upgrade that won't break the bank?? ie. better pads...??

Best value mods, these will utterly transform your car to the one it should always have been from the factory.

re brakes... Unless your tax man has been so generous to justify 2.5k on AP's, try to get hold of VXR brakes. The standard CV8 setup is poor at best, even with uprated pads. I had to get AP's due to non availability of VXR brakes at the time when it was crucial I change my brakes.

Theres no such thing as a nice tax man, not even when he's giving you money back!

Speak to Roger at Monkfish - they do a really good pad upgrade for approx GBP100 for the front & GBP50 for the rears. I find them more than adequate for UK driving.

Cheers chaps, I'll look into the Monkfish brake upgrade. I was thinking of getting a spoiler fitted too. The car starts to feel a bit light at the rear at higher speeds (on private roads of course!) Are the spoilers effective at providing more grip, or are they more for show off?

J.J is right though, the tax man stinks!! Even though I'm getting a fair amount back (just over £4k) I doubt I'll get the interest I have lost on it over the course of a year at ISA levels!!!

I recommend you wait until you have the road response pac done before revisiting rear spoiler ideas. The far more positive drive you'll experience from that may change your mind. TBH I still don't feel the aerodynamic need for it (even at runway speeds) although still tempted by the style.

The spoiler does look nice, whether or not it's practical is up for debate. Mr Brunstom won't let me try it out on these lovely Welsh roads to give you an informed opinion.

Spend it wisely - it will be my £4,500 that I've just had to give the 'nice Tax man'.......

Makes me feel a lot better about it to think that my money is going to fund an upgrade to a Monaro as opposed to funding an MP's son through college.....

LOL...The tax man sure has a habit of making us bitter and twisted. I had to pay £10,200 in one lump last tax year, over what I had already paid, so I feel your pain!!!

I will spend the money wisely..........

Yes, 31st Jan and I think 31st July.
You are right... I pay less during the year and more on the alloted time. Means you can earn interest on it while its waiting in the bank... unless you spend it all and then panic when you get the bill!
