Just looking for a bit of advice please. My ZX6R is running rich, whats the best way to set the mixture? Is there a base setting to start from ? Which way do you wind the mixture screws to lean it up a little ? Is it best to set it with a CO machine, if so, whats the procedure. Have balanced the carbs, but its bogging down under load, and smells rich, exhaust pipe very sooty. ( no puppet jokes please!! )

its normally unscrew for rich, screw in for lean in my experience.
ive been told on jap bikes its typically 1 1/2 turns out as a base setting, but that could be wrong - although it got my rf600 running again last year.

In my experience of messing with mixtures...I move the circlip up/down on the needle jet grooves...best dyno`d while in there messing though.

depends which mixture you need i guess.
the air screw does the idle/low speed running & then the needle takes over.

So if there no set figure to aim for, like when doing a car ?
