E36 alarm problems (Tried reprogramming to no effect)

Hi,

This morning i was able to lock the car with the alarm key fob but when i finished work the fob wold not work although the led on the fob would illuminate. I then tried my spare set of keys and they worked, I then tried swapping the batteries over to the fob which hadn't worked and it still didnt work. I then decided to reprogram the fobs using the total bmw guide. After switching the alarm module to the program mode both fobs worked on switching it back neither worked and when trying to reprogam again it still wouldn't work. After trying numerous times with no success I tried disconnecting the battery which didnt have any success. I have no other ideas can someone please help.
