I was thinking about sorting out another of these, sadly Easter weekend is out for all the Lotus guys because of this:

https://tickets.motorsportvision.co.uk/calendar/ra...

There are Lotus races on the Monday, too (It's a great event if anyone's after a bit of racing to end the long wait)

Alternatively, how about the first weekend in April? There's a Goodwood brekky that day (driver's cars from 1980 - present), so it would be a perfect excuse for a stop off on the way back

Hoping to make the Sunday Service in a couple of weeks (if I've got the bloody car back from the garage by then), but would be up for a Woodman one too!

I`ve just returned from Astra Owners Club monthly meet at the Grasshopper. Although they are accommodating, with a huge car park, the food in the carvery has gone downhill considerably, and at £7.75 for 1 serving on what is slightly bigger than a desert plate, is a bit of a rip off.

So, having never been there, what is the Woodman like ?
Would it be large enough to accept 20 - 30 cars, and how`s the food ?

Sorry for the questions, but we need to find a better venue in the same area.

Thanks
Pete

Much better. Grasshopper is a crap pub IMHO. Woodman is much nicer, with a reasonable sized car park. TBH I've not been hugely impressed with the food the couple of times I've eaten there, but it was not bad by any stretch. Barbecue which Nick organises is thumbup

Hi Pete

Have seen the Astra owners club there when I have been to a couple of BMW meets. Have been told the Grasshopper is under new management and BMW is not good enough for them so we aren't allowed to have our meets there any more - have you heard the same about your meets?

Think we are having our meets at the Woodman from now on. Food and staff are very friendly!

Dont worry, youre not alone.

We are having to change our Sunday meet venue from Dunton Green to...funnily enough...The Woodman.

Many pubs nowadays dont want us there unless we are bums on seats in the restaurant. Our club (TVR) brings in serious numbers & most of us eat, but it still wasnt enough for our old venue who have thrown a hissy fit, so its time for a change.

Ive never been a fan of The Grasshopper, had a bit of an incident with the old management there a while ago & wouldnt go back.

Allo Pistonheads

Just joined in. Came accross a Woodman meet a year or two ago but didnt realise who had organised it. Have been looking for the next one for a while. It was great, with Jags, Cobras, TVRs, Lotus, Ultimas and more attending. Know the BIG Grasshopper well as the MR2 Drivers Club meets there first Sunday of the month. Looking forward to the meeting up with you all at the next one whenever that is....
