As you know the Vette is up for sale, and has been for a little while now. I,m in no particular hurry to sell so the price is what I consider a good one should make. It currently up at £7950 (started off at £8750). I,ve just had an email via PH from a guy offering £5250. laugh

What is it about a price that people don't understand ?? I can see that an offer is always worth a go, but nearly £3000 under asking, that's taking the p*ss ! Apparantly you can get a lot newer one for around £7000.

Anyway, just replied very politely telling him no way ! nono

I was selling a BMW a few years ago for about £5K.

Bloke on phone: 'There are cars like it in Exchange & Mart for £4K'

Me: 'They seem very good value, I'd go and buy one of those if I were you'.

Lordy, I have just turned down an offer for my Bayliss because he it was almost one thousand away from the 9950 asking price, and I thought that was a bit of a lowly offer. But 3 biguns off is a 'P' take.

Well ATEOTD it's only worth what someone will pay you for it, sadly. And tne internet has ingrained a habit of buying cheap. Great if you're buying, not so much fun if you're selling. Boxes shift but everybody makes less profit (except the Chinese of course).

Having just had a car advertised have been amazed at the tossers who ring and offer the first number that comes into there head. Do they not realise that offering 3 grand below what you could get at a car auction is a bit of a punt too far.loser

Better an email than him wasting your time with a test drive etc I suppose.

John's right, everybody wants things cheap & it's not just the interwebulator - I blame Tesco laugh

Look at it this way Ian, the twot wants something he can't really afford! Makes me feel better anyhow. Johns right, but only to a point IMHO, it just depends how much competion like for like is out there and how badly a punter wants your car.

The internet just helps cheeky gits make an offer without having to get off their asses and come round for a look.

What have they got to lose?

I just delete them and if they chase I take it as a bit more serious and say I thought they were joking with their first e-mail.

Well, the Vette's been reduced again (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/200563.htm). I believe I may have found my next 'toy' so I really could do with selling it shortly.

Well its a real bargain for somebody Ian and with the season almost upon us I would imagine a buyer will soon come along, Good Luck. As for my own sale, well I have had a fella who seems intent on waiting until the new financial year or his taking the 'P' out of me curse
