New Police device: the Muggamatic
Discussion
Yes, the new Muggamatic 4000 targets muggers at 3 miles with laser, measures their height & weight, while issuing them a court summons within 14 days of the offence.
Joke? too right. All the technology spent trying to catch "speeding" motorists, and precious little spent on other more important issues. Tired line, this "catch real criminals", but how apt. And how about the Police educating road users and/or offering rehabilitation/councelling for the habitual speeder? My speed habit is just as important to me as anyone elses chemical fix.
Nope. None of it. Only revenue, while Johnny Scrote goes about his unlawful business mugging old ladies, the Police continue to mug the motorist.
Speeds maybe down slightly, but numptism is rife, and no one in power seems to have twigged yet.
Angry hat off.

It's called visual recognition systems, something I have used in Factory automation to chuck out bad parts, I'm sure it could be developed to recognise known muggers !
Actually a system like that already exists. I can remember seeing it on Tomorrows World a few years back
Some police forces have been trialling it linked to existing CCTV systems.
If any residents of Cambridgeshire wonder why there are no police about to tackle nightime crime and its impact on the community, read on.
Yesterday, at about 16-00 hours, there was an ANRC van on the A1 near the junction with the A14 at Huntingdon. In attendance as pursuit cars there were five, yes 5, police cars to chase and stop those with no tax discs or with illegally spaced number plates. At two officers per car, plus two in the van, that makes 12 officers in total.
And they claim to be short of resources!

Yanks have spent $$$ on something similar in airports after 9/11.
It doesn't work.

No on my trips to the states recently they were targeting dark haired single men over 5'10". They were not impressed by my Steel Toe Cap Shoes, which I forgot I was wearing (A day at the parent factory)
