Having had my M6 to drive for a few days, I am finding that with my driving style I am getting the smoothest gear changes in the fastest mode (No. 5 not the TC off mode). So I have simply set my M-mode to P500 SMG5 and Normal suspension and use that all the time - no matter what sort of driving I am doing.

My question is - Am I putting unecessary loads on the car for every day driving in this mode (ie. will clutch etc. wear quicker) or does it not really make a great deal of difference.

I guess if it is better to keep it in P400 and SMG1/2 for everyday I could adjust my driving to suit - but I like the mode I am using. Having been used to the simplicity of 911s for so long I thought it would be worth asking peoples opinions.

I'd be surprised if it did. I used to drive mine in the same mode...I think most owners do.

The only time I used P400 was if the weather was really horrible in which case there seemed nothing to gain and all to lose using P500!

Mine runs at 500 sport with the fastest gear change setting and TC off all the time. It has also been to four track days driven on M button settings including the stiffest suspension setting.

So far there are no issues after 33,000 miles.
