Hidden in my Uncles garage!

Its a 1956 BSA Goldy. Been completely restored and renewed. Looks lovely, apologies for the shite photos, was dark and on my phone. Only changes he made was a couple of bolts are stainless rather than chrome.

Yum.

Yeah, he's rearranged his garage today (joys of retirement!).

He's had it tucked away for ages, and as he was a fitter he made any bits he needed (bolts, heat shield etc) himself.
Only non standard part is the engine cover on the right hand side of the bike. The stock one is flat, this one has a dome of 15mm on it.

He hasn't fired it up for a while though, but I've got my DAS on 26th, so might go out for a ride with him after this.

Only 500cc, single cylinder cloud9

that looks lovely. if/when you do try it enjoy the right foot gear change - that'll confuse you for a bit hehe

Yeah I sat on it and spent a few seconds trying to hook my foot under the brake on the left! hehe

The right side gearchange is only the start, it may even have an upside down shift pattern too 1 i.e. 1 up and 3 down.

Then there is the cardbord tyres and plywood brakes to get used to. That is if you ever get it started without breakng your ankle. Then once it is running, for gawds sake dont turn it off, as when they are hot the Amal GP race carb will flood for no good reason.

Proper bikes eh ! They do sound fantastic though.

Enjoy

yes i think your right about 1 up 3 down. IIRC it was only trumpets that had 1 down 3 up on the right - hence the high tec conversion to left shift was a rod right across the gearbox.
are amal GP carbs that bad then? the normal amals ive got are great - just need to prime them when hot as they dry out from the engine's heat.
