I'm after your recommendations for a hotel to take my girlfriend to on the weekend after Valentines.

I'd like somewhere posh, safe parking for the Porsche, excellent food and decent soundproofing in the rooms.

She lives in Derby, I live in Luton, so I'm too far away to have any local knowledge.

Newton Park between Derby and Burton. Only 3* but it's a nice place.

Food at The Blenheim in Etwall is very good and it's a hotel too - though we've not stayed there.

The Priest House Hotel in Castle Donington - at the bottom of the lane, right by the river.

Went for a New Year dinner there and it is a great place

Only been to wedding functions there but the Priest House at Castle Donington might be worth a look.

Isolated and scenic location (road ends at the hotel) next to the River Trent. Think they have got barriers on the car park as well IIRC.

Optional extra of taking the o/h for a spin round the Donington Collection if you get fed up with testing the sound proofing smile

Hassop Hall near Bakewell should fit the bill.

Owner is a bit of a car nut too

Thanks for the replies, there's some excellent suggestions in there that I'll look into.
