Hi guys,

I am thinking of buying an A4 avant 2.0 TDi 170ps version when i return to the UK. I understand these engines have their torque restricted to protect the auto gearboxes, is this true? I'll be going for a manual and would like to remove this restriction. Is anyone doing a remap for this engine yet? What are the figures like? Anyone got any personal experience, I heard this engine is a stormer even in standard form, with almost 50mpg???

Thanks in advance.

Just found this, looks very impressive!! - http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/A4%202.0%20TDI%...

What are the tolerances like on these engines, guess they are still fairly new.

It doesn't look like DMS or Jabba are doing remaps for this engine yet.

There's been a lot of controversy over the TDI 170 remaps. I know a couple of tuning companies had some turbo failures amongst other things. But I am interested in that Superchips option as they are local to me.

Edit - Just spoken to Superchips and they have now put my concerns to rest. On the early remaps' there was a heat problem which has now been resolved - all work guaranteed so once my A3 TDI 170 arrives and is run in I will be getting down there!

Policy forbids name & shame, but search here and around a few of the larger forums for outfits that are *far* preferred to super chips.

I'm not going to bad mouth anyone if that's what you're hoping for! tongue out

I have heard far better feedback about superchip's competitors than I have about themselves; nothing more to it than that.

I was interested in a 170 bhp remap of my 120 A4 quattro TDI avant but spoke to my insurance company first - Admiral - and they refused to insure the car as it had a c30% increase in power.
I am sure other companies would insure me but it did put me off.

My current car has over 60% more power than standard, 230bhp to 370bhp thanks to a supercharger. It's just a case of finding the correct insurer biggrinbiggrin

A-Plan as advertised on here are very good.

Well! Who do you recommend? What's the big secret? All we want is to hear recommendations so we can make our own opinions...

Otherwise I will play the local card! And avoid any of your secret society!
