Hey guys

A friend of mine wants to buy himself either a F430 or a G spyder.

He has been in my car a few times and likes it.

Even more so after he saw Jeremy Clarkson DVD where the F430 is pitched against the G.

But he is yet to make up his mind. What he wants to do is spend some seat time in both....

As I'm a Lambo fan I said I would see if I could help him do that for the Lambo only ofcourse wink

What I'm asking is I have seen a few of you have "loan" cars from the dealership for a day/weekend etc and I was wondering how he would go about doing that.

He doesn't think a short test drive would be sufficient seat time to make a decision. He is willing to pay for the time if necessary but just wondered if any of you guys knew how he could go about it with the least amount of hassle.

Or if dealers only reserved such things for their favourite high spending customers?

Help appreciated.

Why not hire one for a day? Should be about 5-600 quid during the week.

brand new or used ?

He is open to either, but I think he will go for brand new.

Whoever suggested renting for a week, can you give me company that might do that?

I think that might be £500-600 per day, mid-week.

You could try some of the supercar hire clubs such as ecurie 25. They may be open to a few hundred quid if no-one has booked the car and it is just sat there idle.

I have been lent cars for extended test drives by up to a week before from main dealers. All I had to do was provide the insurance.

Just ask.

Because Clarkson said the G is better, so what more does he need. Sorry, being facetious.

I went through this same process a few short months ago, dealers were falling over themselves to give me a car. But this isn't in the UK where they can be a bit "snotty"

None, but only insured to drive (me and wife). No restriction on the miles. Turned up in my car, gave them the keys. Talked me through the car and then on my way.

Graypauls always lend out cars to genuine customers. Ive had short and long drives from them. Although I havent for a while after crashing their DB9 courtesy car last year.

Seems like its entirely luck of the draw, graypaul edinburgh where very unforthcoming about letting us out in a masser gt, even for 15mins with one of their people.

Or maybe I just look like a hazard? One audi dealer wanted a 10k deposit before I'd even get a sniff on an R8.

Maybe that is because he knows you have deep pockets sir wink

I spoke to him today and he told me in no uncertain terms they were not "allowed" to loan a car out. He offered a 30 mins test drive????

Oh well no big deal....I'll try manchester if they say no too then no big deal. But seems odd as ferrari have offered a weekend loan.
