I'm sorry (?) to say I'll be in Long Beach CA on Tuesday - not quite Matlock I know, but hey, I'll just have to rough it in the LB Hilton courtesy of HMG.

Am REALLY pleased with my SAAB 9-3 Aero HOT(TER) by the way - mid range grunt and acceleration is quite startling now, but drivability remains excellent!

Don't forget to feed the Long Beach cats which live up high on the main road, up above the beach!
Look for a grassy area with a few thick bushes.
They live there! We fed them in November! biggrin

I might be able to make this one!

Prof - I'm sooooooo envious of you. I'd love to California. And that Polar shot makes me wish I was elsewhere too.

Everyone should go to California, even if it's only the once.
I have been going every year, since 1981 and never tire of the place, as it has so much to offer.
Rather like the USA as a whole, the biggest problem is time, because few people have enough time to do everything they want to do/can do.
Bordered, as it is, by other interesting states, ideally you want to set aside 4 weeks and include Las Vegas and Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam.
Every so often we take the glass-bottomed helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon, which is always a fantastic experience.
You land at the bottom for 30 minutes and have a champagne lunch.
Splendid! biggrin

Don't think I'm going to make it after being brought home on the back of a recovery truck on Saturday, my cars head gasket has gone (not confirmed til tomorrow) and I'm driving a, don't laugh, 1993 Suzuki Vitara 1.6 Auto jeep so don't really want to spend anymore time than needed in car, though it is fun over speed bumps hehe

Got to see if I can get it to slide tomorrow (it has a transfer box and I've just kept it in RWD, of course)
