Head Gasket confirmed or worse....
Discussion
Got the Chimaera in at the TVR Centre for a suspected head gasket. Well they've tested it today and water is definitely getting into the cylinders. They mentioned it might possibly be a cracked block!! I really hope not, would be more economical for me to buy a second hand 4.0 lump I'd of thought than repair that.

I don't believe a crack block is "repairable" but if you mean "new block" then you should check out the new Cosworth ones that TVR Power have on their website for £999. They look good - I almost went for one until Dom gave mine a clean bill of health! That would probably be cheaper than an entirely new engine...

To be honest si I don't think the guy knew, but I'm thinking about dropping him an email about it. Maybe he should give me a 'goodwill' gesture to help with the costs? Who knows..It's been fine up till now, no coolant loss, etc. It has been mentioned by the TVR centre that it could possibly be a porous block. I know this affected the 4.6 p38 Range Rovers but I didn't expect the 4.0 TVR lump to be affected like this. Still they won't know for sure till Monday when the heads are taken off.

I have noticed these and if the block is shagged I think I'll go for one.Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
