When I had my Z750 I was used to it costing me about 10p per mile in fuel as it returned about 40mpg. It appears my falco isn't quite so economical, I filled it up today after 110 miles of mixed riding.......£16.

A quick fag packet calculation shows this to be around 28mpg.

Worth it though!

i can get anything from 28mpg to 47mpg jsut by varying speed on mainroads with the 14. i reckon 20mpg is possible by a loon on smaller roads.
never get stroppy under 60mpg though - odd that.

Is that hooning? My Falco will get to 140/150 miles before the light comes on with normal riding.

The light hadn't come on when I filled it. The riding consisted of 30 miles of weekend hooning, 50 miles of motorway/dual carriageway at around 80-100 and 30 miles of central London stop and start.

Yeah its London and the hooning that brings it down. Oh, and the fact the box is so leggy you can merrily be cruising along in 4th thinking you're in top hehe

My falco would do 85-90 miles at best til the light came on round town. It was one tooth down on the front to make it better for town work and also make it go a bit better.
Out of town 100-110 miles on a long run at best til the light came on.

Blimey, makes my old Firestorm look pretty good and that’s a bike that is often maligned for poor fuel consumption. I would expect to get around 37mpg on the run described.

Thats what I would have got from the Z750 and the Honda VFR I had as a loaner.

Surely that would be closer to 35mpg

£16, about 15 litres, just over 3 gallon into 110 miles is 34mpg. Thats not bad at all.

My SV does ~ 45mpg commuting. I fill up the falco as often as I did the SV, but with the larger tank and smaller reserve it costs ~25-30% more in fuel, so yes somewhere around 35mpg.

You're right tim2100. Depending on the price per litre, I've just worked it out at around 32-33mpg.

I worked it out as 15.2 litres

I thought there were 4 litres in a galon which would give 3.8 gallons.

110 / 3.8 = 28.9 mpg
