Anyone know a source for these or anyone got any (or one) for a 4.2 cerbera?
I had a lambda sensor down, hadn't time to fix it so drove it to get it sorted. On the way at low revs I think it ran lean as I put my foot down and had a 25 foot roman candle out the rear...
I know I could decat cheaply, but it would make it too noisy for local trackdays (and the miserable neighbour).
Cheers

I have sports tails and have recently decatted. It isn't actually that much louder at tick over and low revs, only when you're booting it hard. With only a 100 nuggets or so for a linked decat pipe I'd defo suck it and see. Your money may be better spent on some ACT TD silencers rather than replacememnt Cats (as long as you have a friendly specialist with their own set for MOT times).I've actually got one that I bought to get the car through an MOT, but in the end it never needed it (long story, but basically involves an incompetent MOT mechanic). Anyway, its in my garage now, and since its only seen about 200 miles of use, I was just about to put it on ebay. Interested?
Yup very please. My email is in my profile. Either way I go I'll probably need them for the mot.
The other option is to go with some linked decat pipes from TCS. At least that will make the cabin cooler in summer.
I've love to go for the full SP system but I can't quite stretch to £1k extra just now.

That's interesting GG, ACT + decat. Was thinking about that myself. Could you start up and burble out of a cul-de-sac at 6am without waking the dead? Anyone else run this combo? Was thinking of going the SP box + decat route (have sports tails)..Sports plus cats on my car measures anywhere between 102-104db at the track days I've been on. ACT trackday silencers drops it to 97-98db. It's about right I think and I can burble out the close without making too much noise.
Quite tempted by the decats now. Are the linked ones quieter than non-linked?

It's the person who spray painted his fence & and the whole of my car including the interior as the windows were open, one week after I bought it.

He's bought a Porsche Boxster - I think me wearing my t-shirt when it comes will do

From my experience.... In order of loudness
1. Sports + decat (too noisy)
2. Sports + cats (too noisy)
3. Standard + decats (my favourite , normal sound but a nice bark at high revs)
4. Standard + cats (too quiet
)
All IMO of course
Interesting. Maybe we should make a table, eg marks out of 100 for:1. Sports + decat (too noisy)
2. Sports + cats (too noisy)
3. Standard + decats (my favourite , normal sound but a nice bark at high revs)
4. Standard + cats (too quiet
)All IMO of course

rear box system cats loudness (idle) loudness (on song) overall sound quality
-------- -------- --------- --------------- ------------------ ---------------------
std (benchmark) std std 50 50 50
std std none 65? 70? 85?
ACT std std 60 55 55
ACT std freeflow 65 60 60
ACT std none 75? 85? ?
SP std std 45? 55? 55?
SP std freeflow ? ? ?
SP std none ? ? ?
SP (boss) SP none 55? ? ?
Not very scientific - 'loudness' is particularly cringeworthy - and quality is subjective, but you get the idea. The ?s represent cluelessness
, the others are IMHO. Can extend to HP gain, cost etc.I had Blueflame Super Sport pipes and Decat when we went to the Ring last April and it was effing loud hence being booted and coming home deaf; now have the same decats (straight through jobs not linked) and the SP Backbox and think I recorded a (just on the limit) 102 at Brands, albeit maybe at about 3.5k not the 4k asked for. Happy with that and confident I can get on any 105 days without issue, oh and no questions at the Ring in October. The full SP setup is purported to get down to 98 but the full system uses the linked decat which I guess is why I am still a bit above that. It for me is an ideal setup, quiet when you want but still sounds like you have cranked open the gates to hell at full beans, and it still gives me a selection of tracks I can get on at, as long as I pick the right days.

I have the standard dealer fit sports back box. Fitted a linked decat has increased the overall volume - she is defo louder than Sports with Cats even at tick over and low revs, but there's not that much in it.Ultimately I would like the SP back box to go with my linked Decat. I've heard the system and it has a nice rasp to it. However like Biker I too cannot afford the expense this year, so I'll just have to make do.
I have a sound meter so I might just give it a bash tomorrow and see what she's putting out. So how close do you stand to the exhaust? What level? and at what revs?
