Was reading Top Marques yesterday and noticed that there were around 50 43o's being advertised. Has this got something to do with the economic climate? Either which way, it looks like prices are finally dropping. Interestingly, not even half as many Gallardos for sale.

Checked back two issues ago (sad I know) and there were only 40 for sale. Also checked Autotrader where the numbers were similarly high. Is this the ned as we know it for the established 430 residuals? I also notived that 360's are looking awfully good value for money.

it's an interesting question.

i'm looking to make a move for either a G or a 430 spider at some point, not sure whether i'll do it before or after the summer.

i'm trying to work out when the gap between the 360 and the new car will be tightest.

i think 360 values will level off to around the top of 355 prices, which are not that far away now. whilst 430's will probably close the gap to late 80's by winter, so only a 20-25k gap where it's now about 40k

would you agree or am i just living in hope?

Hi Harsh - hope you are well?

I don't think you will see a late £80's car this winter, but they will sutely dip below £100k. I think you will see a £30 - £35k gap. Some nice Gallardos out there now in the mid 80's - spectacular value compared to the 430.

I see what you're saying Edward, asking prices probably wont go that far, it just comes down to the volume for sale at the time.

we'll certainly see a concertina effect but maybe not as marked as i hope wink

hows biz?

We've been suffering with snow and low temperatures for 2 months now, so the conditions aren't great. That said, the corporate side of things is booming - Scotland is really becoming a worlwide destination for road trips! We also have some pretty mad events coming up, and some good PR on the way wink, so 2008 should be a great year.

I think you may be shocked by the residual of your 360 I have been with what has been quoted for my 360 spider. Wanting to move it on to buy 360Cs but the gap if trading in is massive.
The gap for you to change at a dealer (going by what I have been offered) will be a lot more than £40k for a F430.

Agreed,...I feel there's going to be a 'serious bloodbath' this year in terms of depreciation and drop in values for second hand 430's... especially now as the 'three year old, out of official warranty' etc kicks in on the early cars, and an ever increasing number of vehicles hits the marketplace.

Do you not think that the time of year is a contributory factor particuarly for the Spiders???

Yes winter not best time to sell spider but the 360CS's I see for sale most have been in the showroom since last summer!I suspect that when the Scuderia arrives that number of CS's on the market will increase so you would thinkj they would want to deal on the dead stock they have at least some money in the till even if another Ferrari back in stock (turnover!)

i'm no rari expect, but i have been looking at prices of porsche 911's, where the price of a mint 993 has now easily overtaken that of a mint 996... could the 355 end up being worth more than 360?

Ok in terms of value it's a long way away but it happend in the Esprit market where late Giugiaro cars like mine are worth almost double early Peter Stevens shaped cars!

Countach's overtook early Diablos...

I personally think the biggest problem hitting the values of the: 360, 430, DB7/9, Gallardo and possibly even the just murci etc is sheer o'level economics...

Supply and demand!

They're awesome cars and people nowadays are waaaaay more affluent than 15-20 years ago. Consequently they have sold shedloads of them, so there are shedloads on the market and down goes the value frown

Start an evil campaign, blowing up people's cars to save your residuals wink

IIRC there are 97 odd official UK RHD coupe Murci 6.2s in the country and a few of them have more history than rome! agreed though, I dont think all those 97 cars have owners at any one time so supply must exceed demand.

Remember if you want to order a new 430 Spider now you will still have to waite for around a year. That will always help the residuals.

You could call around the dealer network and ask for any cancelled orders or specable slots. I'd be amazed if you didn't get several call you back immediately desperate to bite your hand off with your £20k deposit

Think you will find that a car can be sourced alot quicker than that at present.

The economy cannot be helping but i think its down to the early 05 cars coming out of there warranty soon and owners are looking to move to something with warranty. I dont want a Ferrari out of warranty.
