potential new owner

Hi -- I'm close to completing a deal on a 95 Esprit S4S located in Georgia. Details on the car are here:

A few questions remain:
1) Am I really giving much up by going with the S4S vs a V8?

2) I am wondering if the previous owner of the car is anywhere to be found

Looks very nice..!

4 cylinder vs v8 has been discussed many times.. The s4s is just a quick as a v8 in a straight line, but has heavier clutch and turbo lag. V8 has more torque, less lag and lighter clutch. 4 cylinder prob easier for home mechanic to work on, cheaper to fix if something goes wrong..

try the yahoo 'turboesprit' group to see if you can find the previous owner.

The owner of the S4s is indeed a member of the Turbo Esprit Group. He traded the S4s in for a newer V8 is the story I heard on the list. The S4s is quick, almost as quick as a stock V8. You will not be able to over take them, but they will not be able to lose you either if you are a fair driver. One just has to be more of presise driver. On the up side the 4 cyl. is very easy to to work on if you are a DIY type of person.

I also got an S4s through NP / LOA. The car is awesome! Make sure that you get all the manuals, books, tools, etc. because everyone I know who got a lotus from them didnt get the small things.

The s4s is tons of fun to drive and has more than enough power for the streets. Make sure they screw everything together and do a 100% written inspection and send it to you before you buy. If you are serious they will have no problem.

I am working an a 97 V8 AC system and I wish I had a 4 at this point. There is not much room to work on the V8’s but I do like the low end power and the sound of two pipes. All the cars are killer it is really up to you what you want. I wanted the S4s or 97 wing and also liked the fender flairs. I found yellow in a 97 first so that is what I got.

It will take you days to wipe the grin off your face once you get one.
