Business lists
Discussion
I'm looking for a solution to the following problem. Let's say I want to create a website that shows the location of all the supermarkets in the UK. Obviously I'm going to need a database that stores this information (business name, address, phone etc). But where do I get this information from?
Online directory enquiries services such as Yell.com and 118.com specifically state that their data may not be used to create your own database. Contacted them and asking about buying lists from them gives a similar answer - data may not be used to create anything that may be considered a rival service.
There are companies that sell marketing lists, but generally they are purely for the purposes of carrying out things such as a one-time mail shot.
Anyone any ideas? Thanks.
