Both button and knob? Probably a stiff mechanism. As T-pot suggests, open flap and give the mech a lube.

Flap, flap, I am in a flap now as I have never seen this flap.
Where is it?

tilt seat forward look on the side of the car under the rook and side of door you will see the carpet can be lifted from the bottom.

Before messing around with flaps and lubing mechs, check first that the door hasn't dropped slightly and is ribbing, even very slightly, on the sill. If you have kick-plates you may see a slight scuff mark.

OR, that the top edge of the drivers door window isn't touching the rubber seal on the roof immediately above it. Easy to check buy trying the door with the window slightly down (or in this weather with the top off!!)

Nick.
