Just wondering how this is stated for the car on its official DVLA documents...
Is it an auto or a manual ?

Aren't all automatics 'automated manual'?

I dont think thats right Paul. Logically, I agree, but I'm pretty sure mine is still classed as a manual.

Ahh I thought it would be Auto but as I don't have one of these cars it was just speculation.
Interesting.

If you sat your driving test in any of these cars you would only get a licence to drive automatic vehicles.

I bet they would fail you for being a cocky bar steward, but good question

I would expect so. Mine's listed as automatic.

Surely if the car can change gear for you, then its an auto. If it doesn't or cant, its a manual?

its both, on Ferrari's and BMW smg's they are actually manual gearboxes with clutches and have a solenoid to operate the clutch and gearlever movements instead of a pedal and lever, correct term is semi manual gearbox. If you only have an auto license then bonus, you can still drive one of these. As they have fully automatic function then that is how they are perceived, but under all the tech...its just a manual. Ive had a manual 550 and a paddle 575. Love the speed of change with the f1 and mega when you are really on it. Clarkson hates them but he is a knob.
