How hard is it to sell an Ultima?
Discussion
depends on the price how quickly you want to sell & how much support you get from the factory to sell it.
If you treat it like a TVR, Noble etc (ie accept that it WILL depreciate) then you will have no problems. If your expecting to sell for what you spend, then you need to think again very seriously.

Well, having sold 2 I would echo what's been said above. There are 2 things that are vital to selling an Ultima:
1. Having an attractive specification.
2. Pricing it right.
The two are, of course, fairly dependent on one another. A 700hp LS7 will command a much higher price than a 350ci SBC - however, bear in mind that 90% of the other components in the car are likely to be the same - even more if you were comparing a 350hp SBC with a 550hp one. In fact, it's fair to say that the 'cheapest' thing to change on an Ultima is the engine (provided you're not changing between SBC and LSx of course!). As I said, obviously very high spec engines (18 degree head SBCs, LSx etc.) will cost more to build and will therefore command a higher resale price.
To protect the residual value, use as many factory parts as possible and be wary of overtly 'personal' modifications (weird interiors etc.)
I've always maintained that a 'safe' price for a fairly standard factory spec. GTR with up to 500hp is about £35k IMHO (depending on age of course but most Ultimas sell quite 'young').
Use this as your yardstick and you won't go too far wrong.

Forgive my ignorance but was is an 18 degree head, what does it do more than a "standard" degree head and why does it cost more?Gassing Station | Ultima | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
