Hi there chaps

just changed from an E31 4.4 840CI Sport to a Z3M,

the throttle feels alittle stiff, is this normal? on further investigation it becomes apparant that the throttle does indeed operate a number of butterflies but shud it still be stiff?

why does it not have traction control?

major known faults to look out for?

Z3M Roadster or Coupe? I have a coupe and am pretty sure that the stiff throttle is a sign that your throttle cable needs changed. It seems to be a pretty common problem as it cropped up for the previous owner of my car. Personally I have never had any problems.

And it does have traction control, it's that foot shaped thing at the bottom of your right leg

Hi there, its a 1999 on a S plate.

Im not entirely sure its performing as much as it should, it seems alittle dull at low revs, yet has had the required Vanos recall. its as though its not got much torque low down? although moves as id expect at higher revs, should i have to work the engine hard?

i wasnt complaining about the lack of traction control, meerly wondering why its not fitted as the E46 M3 has it, and the rears do spin up and the back step out easily, which can catch you out on wet/damp roads.

Only the cars with the later 325bhp S54 Engine (E46 M3) had TC.. If yours is a 1999 's' then I think you'll have the same spec engine as the E36 M3 Evo so you won't have TC.

It doesn't really feel like it has torque low down, esp after stepping out of an oh so smooth 840. It livens up past 3K in the right gear, and positively sings around 7-8K. You get used to it quickly.

Throttle cable does seem a bit stiff, mines has been the same for 3 years and is fine, again just got used to it. I think the E31 had fly by wire throttle link, so no cable. cmiiw

You have something much better than DSC, a proper LSD. Just dont go made when it's wet. Mind you, mine was always going sideways in the wet until I changed the tyres, as posted elswhere by me, P zeros were awful. Bridgestone S03s transformed it, both dry and wet

Touch wood, mine has had no problems since purchase, so to me, superbly reliable and cheap. That's blown it

Worst known fault to me is rear diff mounts can crack the welds on the chassis.
Clutch is long and heavy but can be improved with ss braided clutch hose.
Aircon rads susceptible to cracking.
