I have been struggling to get a rear ball joint and a couple of other parts for my 7 series without resorting to going to the dealer… Some of the motor factors are little better than useless and on two occasions they have ordered me the wrong part…
This morning I made a call to a local factor that specialise in German car parts. On calling I explained what I needed and was immediately put through to “Harry” who was the man for BMW parts apparently. I explained to Harry what I needed and he immediately knew the part. He explained I would also need a snap ring at 80 pence as they sometimes break when you remove them… he had stock of the joint, plus all the other items I needed so I popped down to collect the parts.
When I got there, they were waiting for me. We had a bit of a chat and Harry explained that I needed to look at another couple of parts and check for wear after I told him how many miles the car had done. He printed out a few parts pages for me and circled the parts to check and gave me a rough idea of prices…
What refreshing change dealing with someone who knows their stuff rather than some spotty yoouf in Halfords. Great service, I know where I will be going for my BMW spares from now on!
