RFLK30 wiper relay, what is the part number to buy from shop
Discussion
HI
For some reason the wash/wipe delay unit is completly missing from my Chim (just bought it)I need a part number so I can order it from the local suppliers. Does anyone know which relay I should get?
I have the bible and is says an RFLK30, but no one seems to know what this actally means!
Thanks

Hi.
The part number that you mention is the standard relay part number (it's used in other places in the fuse box for things like the horn, lights etc.)
I think thats it's a printing error in the "bible " as the wiper relay should have a delay timer built into it. I spotted the error a couple of days ago when sorting out my fusebox.
I know that it is a Ford wiper relay that they use but I can't remember the part number sorry.
I bet Spend will be along with a part number before long as he is pretty sharp on the electrics side of things.

Nah I think its the Vauxhall one (Italamec 313, GM 90 069 864 are the part no's) there are blue/black/grey versions that have been made (all the same AFIK).
The Ford one is the courtesy light timer if I haven't got them mixed up - I think I connect the Vauxhall wiper relay with the Vaux steering column stalks/switches - but my memory is tricking me a bit at the mo

Just been out and checked the relay that was in the wiper delay position in my fuse box.
It was Ford part with a multi digit part number.
It also had the words "relais zus beheizte heckscheibe" now my German is a bit poor but I got the first bit. Anyway I babel'ed the rest and it turns out that its a heated rear window relay!!!
The delay function and the park are'nt working on my motor but I put this down to the park switch being u/s.
I guess that there are two seperate faults then!
I should know at my age that just cos it's in there don't mean it's right

I reckon thats the Ford courtesy light timer, and should go in relay position 6 (top right). The wiper relay is a GM unit (Vaux cavalier mkIII has it BTW) see http://www.thegriffithpages.com/alternative-parts/...
and a few posts on here
It is physically possible to put those relays in the wrong sockets... Not sure what would work then??

On closer inspection the heated rear screen relay has less pins than light delay relay.
Maybe it was the relay for the heated mirrors because I know that the ford heated rear window switch was a momentry contact switch with a relay that turned off after so long, which is what this relay does.
Not to worry as I am getting new relays for all the fuse box. Well raiding a mates scrap yard. Very handy for all the little bits and bobs that you need.

I'm assuming you haven't got a handbook.. I can tell you what relays to put where, but cant tell you what does what of the common (std single make/break) ones or which fuses do which. If you make a note of the wiring to fusebox you can work it out - give me a shout of you have a problem.
The relay sockets are labeled 1-11, in positions 1,2,4,7,8 & 11 go standard single make/break 30a relays (40a if you have a single fan relay). Ive not seen a config where you cant stick a spare relay in an unused socket to just fill em up
In position 5 goes the 70a ign relay. Position 8 is the Ford courtesy light timer and the GM Intermittent wipe timer goes in position 9.
On the aux relay board there are 6 sockets, not sure if these are standardized so well??
2 on one side should have a pair of single make/break relays which are the L & R hazard relays (there are gr & gw wires to them). In the middle is normally the Ford heated mirror timer (it has ur & wp wires) on the other end is the flasher unit (its got n, b wires and a gn which links it to the hazard relays). The other 2 sockets may be used for heated seats, ac... AFIK know these also only use std single make/break relays.
