Cheapest DSG and Reliability
Discussion
Hi folks,
I drove a DSG golf in Germany a couple of years ago and loved it. What's the cheapest place to find a DSG gearbox in the second hand market? Will it be an early Golf, or Leon perhaps?
Second question, how have they been for reliability? I know they do have clutches, do these wear out? If so, how long do they last and how much to replace them?
Thanks!
Seat Altea is my guess for cheapest - not a popular car, so should get a later, lower mile example than of a Leon or Golf.
As for reliability - no idea really. There are rumours that they can have problems above 60k miles, but I haven't heard much bleating. Its a fine gearbox for everyday workhorse driving, but it doesn't get anywhere near a manual for driver satisfaction.
