I'm potentialy in the market for a 360 Spider. I've heard from a couple of people (a main agent and a specialist)that the F1 box isn't great in the 360. I just wondered what people's experiences were - as they sold an awful lot of them?

F1. No question, just dont bother using it in normal mode, miles too slow changing. I'm yet to find someone who has OWNED an F1 who would go back, only those who have TRIED them still say manual, there is definately a "honeymoon" period where you have to get used to the way the F1 works, after which you will never look back. Its worth it for the "blip" alone, as you change down. smile

Hazy is probably right, you have to live with it for a while. I drove a 360 CS and thought the box was horrible (CS box is meant to be better than normal 360 box), but then I only drove it for 45 mins. Maybe after a couple of weeks I would have loved it, but I'm going to buy a manual, which is a pain as there doesnt seem to be many of them. However, i'm told the 430 F1 is excellent!

I drove both when I was looking to buy my 360 Spider and did not take to the F1 box (was a 2002 car I beleive the later ones are better) so bought a manual. But as I am now upgrading to a CS (I hope sometime soon)it will be F1 so hoping that after longer in the driving seat I will learn to like it and enjoy.

Thanks for the input guys. My feeling is that, reliability and /or smoothnes issues aside, I'd probably prefer a manual anyway as they're a bit more involving / fun to drive.

Neil F could you send me a link to your ad or details on your car. My personal e-mail is grant.wardrop@freeserve.co.uk (the PHs system wouldn't let me PM you) Thanks, Grant

F1 without doubt once your used to it, very fast gear changes and easy in traffic as long as all the software updates have been carried out it is superb, plus you can have it programmed to the same settings as a Challenge if you talk to your dealer nicely.

(1)If your fat bold chav over 45 that cant drive yes the F1 SHIFT is for you.
(2)If you do a lot of endurance racing or have no left arm again FI is for you
(3)However if you want to love your car or like driving and want to feel a part of the car GET THE MANUAL cool

Some out their will say f1 every time ,its faster and they use it in F1 so it must be better look at me ?(refer to (1)

Dealers are the worst Ferrari and Lambo trying to ram a F1 gearbox up your ass
just for that extra £££££. And saying you better or you will never sell it second hand furious

Moral of the story is ,any type of auto turns you in to a scensoredt driver very quickly and driving is about fun not telling everyone i can change gear in 1 millisecond crap.

I love my manual. Also just fitted a Capristo level 2 to my spider and I love it too. Never tried an F1, did not see the need.

Just one additional point - it depends how big your feet are!! Mine are colossal and I find the 360 pedal box area very tight for 3 pedals and two feet!! For me it had to be the F1 for this 'sole' reason - but to be honest, I would have preferred the metallic click clack of a manual.

I was looking to change from a manual 348 to a manual 360 last march 07 and found after talking with Steve Palmer and his team that you will have more fun in the f1,faster gearchange in the f1 and if you place the box into natural when you come to stop at the lights and dont leave it slipping in gear, the clutch will last for years.
So,I bought a 360f1 from Steve and would never go back to a manual box.
Speak to Steve Palmer at MidlandFerrari,nr Worcs.
