A Fireblade or CBR600?
Discussion
Hey all,
I'm making a return to biking this year and flogging my 944.
I want a honda!
When I worked in a bike shop a good few years ago I had the chance to ride quite alot of bikes one of which was our 929 blade. I put about 2000 miles on it!
I've nothing but immense praise for it due to its ease of use, comfort, reliability, performance and surefooted handling. The only bad thing is they look plain.
Especially when compared to the rr4 blade!!!
I was all set for getting a 929 or maybe 954 but I made the mistake of looking at an rr4 and now I'm in a bind. . . .
What are everyones opinions on the above?
Also, I'm a bit of a child on a bike so I was also thinking maybe it would be best to stick with a 600?
I particulary like the first of the underseat exhaust cbr's, any good?
Lets hear it then!

All the work and plans for ya 944 and youre abandoning it!
At least yer trading in for the only thing worth trading in for.. A BIKE!
CBR600 or Blade, tough choice. Don't know what I'd do.
I know a 600 would do all i need it to... but... Blades are cooler. And faster. But more to insure. But faster.

Everytime I drive it something else falls off!
Well, over exageration maybe but I don't have the energy required to keep it feeling tight and on the boil plus summers on the way and I really miss bikes. A friend of mine will be moving to wales soon so it has to be the best way to go over there and enjoy their roads. Cars just don't compare!
My thoughts on 600 or 900 are basically the same as you. I know a 600 will be all I need but the 900/1000 is faster. . . . . .

RRY/1's and RR2/3's are very simular to each other and imho are the best of the FI blades
RR4/5's are boring as hell to ride unless you go 1 tooth smaller on the front sprocket
RR6/7's are ALOT better as they are geared lower (see above, honda listend to customer critism) and lowered the gearing but gave more rev's to keep top speed the same
deffo go for a blade rather than a 600 ,once you're used to riding a big bike a 600 feels like a 250 2-stroke
try and get a ride on all the bikes you like the look of and chose the one that suits you best
feel free to email me for more info

In my opinion a 600 is all you need for fun but a 900/1000 is what you want if you want to use it for fun and for distance stuff. I just got annoyed with my 600s but my 929RRY blade is utterly perfect. The only thing you could say against it is that it's a bit sterile. To counter this I bought a ducati 748S and it's very nice to ride, good fun, great to look at, sounds amazing and is definitely something to feel good about owning. If I had to sell one I drop the ducati in a nanosecond.dern said:

have you got a PC3 (custom-mapped) and race pipe on your 929?? it made mine ALOT more fun to ride...even more midrange plus sorted out the bottom end fueling issuesy2blade said:

ing around with it is appealing rather than trying to solve any problem
.Don't get me wrong, I love this bike. I got back on it monday morning after spending a lot of time on the ducati I honestly thought that the blade was by *far* the better bike and *so* easy to ride fast and smooth. However, I think the old cliche that the ducati has character is true and it's fun to dick about on at the weekend. However, I wouldn't want to make the fireblade like the ducati to ride because then it wouldn't be such a perfect tool for getting to work or heading up north on.
Cheers.

Anyone ridden the underseat exhaust cbr 6's?
My mate up in lancaster has one. I sat on it and rode it up the street but didn't ride it properly as it was (predictably) shitting it down all weekend. Impressions are that it's small, all the controls feel really good and it gives the impression of being a typical rock solid predictable honda. He absolutely loves it.ihatesissycars said:

i rode one when they first came out..it was george whites demo bikeit was fun at first but then became a pain in the arse, had to keep on stamping down 2 gears every time i wanted to overtake someone, a bit like tapdancing on the gear lever all the time...other than that it was good, good brakes loads of feel from the suspension a nice little bike
not for me thanks but try one ,you may well like it

For me the 600 or 1000 decision is governed by insurance costs per year. I'm still paying loads for a 600 as I'm in east london without a garage and I have a total loss payout on a stolen bike counting against me.
I can afford pretty much any bike I want without any hassle its just keeping the insurance costs to a resonable amount per year (sub £500 Fully Comp) which is what I currently have with a 600.
