Hi there,

My Breitling is currently being repaired for a fault, and I have been toying with the idea of going from SS to black leather (has black face) for a while

A few questions:-

How much are real leather straps?
Are they easy to change over? Do you need a specific tool kit?
Has anyone else done the same?

Many thanks for any help

Joe

Easy, takes 30 seconds. Nicest tool is a Bergeon, but a small knife will do that same job.

If you are aiming at a Breitling strap and clasp count on 150-300 depending on whether you want a tang or deployment buckle.

Aftermarket straps of equal quality from about £30.

I am looking to go the other way for my Breitling, but struggling to find an aftermarket strap that looks anything like the original. If it was a £10k watch then originality would be important to me.... but a £1k watch...

I love the original ss design, but £600 is just too much for me to accept when I know that many aftermarket ones are a fraction of the price.

Find a fake on eBay and cannabilise for the bracelet?
I've seen a few chronomats I wouldn't want to own but the bracelets have been better than you'd expect.
I would never normally countenance buying a snide, but in this case it's borderline acceptable, as long as you bin the head.

For good quality non-Breitling straps like on rltwatches - ie. Hirsh Liberty, great for the Navitimer or on eBay, the Seller is Waccex (waccex.com or .de) cheap price but look 'right'.

I wouldn't dismiss all of the replica Breitling deployant straps....the new generation of 'croc' straps (black or brown only) with original style clasp can be bought for around £25-35 if you're on the ball. They have all the correct inscriptions inside too.

Has anyone actually bought a strap from Waccex?
If so, what did you think the quality was like on the strap and also on the clasp?

Thanks

Where can you find an original breitling deployment clasp for the Navitimer. How good are the non branded ones on ebay and watchobsession?

Anyone got one of these?
