Hi all!!

I've got a 2001 A4 2.5 TDi Quattro. This week the driver's side headlight and sidelight have blown. As I've tried to release the bonnet to change them, I've noticed there is not tension in the lever, so the cable has obviously snapped. Is there another way of getting access to under the bonnet, or am I going to have to take it in the the garage?

Cheers,
Ben.

Well on my 99, the bonnet cable runs in a channel under the left side of the bonnet, but even if you could get to this its shrouded in rubber/plastic.

I dont think it will be possible to open from the outside as it would be too easy to break into a car that way, go under the lever with a torch and see if its just came off the back and pull it with a pair of pliers if you can see it.

You could also see it it has came off the bonnet release on the bonnet itself, try and get a pair of needle nose pliers through the grill? its probably came off at the end, not halfway, as the wire is quite strong.

Either way its going to be jiggery pokery and a garage will have to do the same.

Cheers for the reply - I've removed the plastic asing around the lever and tried pulling the cable with no joy, so I'm assuming the cable is snappped at the front. I'll attempt your needle nose pliers idea, otherwise its off to the garage!

Thanks for your help!
