Defender 90 - Hi ratio transfer gears or not ?
Discussion
Thing is, my truck is a genuine 75k miler which I plan to keep for a long while.
Consequently Im not overly keen on fitting a transx box from a 250k Disco that was only ever serviced twice.
If you get my drift.
I can buy the gears from Ashcroft for £225, but I cant do the swap myself for time and space constraints.
If I could get it dopne for £500 I dont think Id blanch quite so much.
I think the gear change could really transform the usability of the old girl though.

I''m going the other way from 1.22 to 1.4 - Ashcroft wanted silly money for the gears, so I scored a complete unit for £50. I wouldn't describe is in as-new condition though, there seems to be quite a bit of play in the diff unit. But at least its a cheap source of the required gears.
