xenon headlight main beam failed on X5 how much do you recon

As it says, are the bulbs replacable?

Or is it a sealed unit no doubt costing more than £50 to replace!?!

the xenon bulbs on my e46 were £90 each, which is better than the £260 for the control unit which was the actual problem..

We had both xenon units replaced on our last e46 when they started to flash intermittently. Cost around £550 each. Luckily the warranty covered them.

Thanks for the replies, on closer inspection the failed main beam bulb looks like a standard bulb rather than anything special, so planing to whip it out & see if a local motor factors have stock.

Bulbs And Balasts much cheaper

I paid 50 quid each for a genuine used Balast and about 35 quid for two osram bulbs

Just a pointer for referance, www.convert2xenon.co.uk do xenon bulds for around 30-40 quid a pair, don't go paying $tealer prices guys...
