Car damaged at dealer

All constructive thoughts on this much appreciated.

To keep it short, my car was damaged at the dealer recently and they are denying it was them, I am 100% sure the damage took place whilst they had the car (5 days) but they are saying it could not have happened whilst the car was with them.

I have to talk this through with the dealer principal but to date they are not being very helpful, just wondered if anyone else had been through similar and how they progressed things?

had my m3 damged at BMW dealer,1st of all they said it was not them, then i proved it was a tool, that had gone through the bonnet from the inside, when they closed the bonnet down. cut a long story short ,they sent a pro round and fixed the dent, i was amazed they was no dent to be seen ! so my prob got sorted, i was very lucky .

Just be firm, the damage was done there. Stick to your guns and they will give in. They have to. Your word against theirs. End of the day whats 500 quid when they are risking losing a 30k sale to you n the future.

My ex-boss had his then 'just over a week old' E36 M3 damaged while under the care of a dealer. It possibly wasn't actually at the dealer when it was damaged - It was supposed to be be transported back to him at his business with a supposedly trustworthy company that was supposed to take the cars on trailers. I noticed out of the office window as it was driven into the car park with someone following in a pick-up truck. It isn't clear how or at what stage the car was damaged, but the dealership took it back, fixed it, and gave my ex-boss a bottle of Champagne. I guess different dealers offer different levels of service... though this was about 12 years ago when companies still cared.
