Europe trip France / Switzerland / Italy Help needed please
Discussion
Hi guys
I have done a search but did not come up with much.
In September I am planning a trip to Europe with my soon to be wife.
I am thinking
France / Switzerland / Italy
Over 10 - 14 days
I don't really have a clue where to go, what to see or where to stay. It will be a honeymoon trip, but would still like to drive some good roads while out and also see some great sites.
For places to stay I am thinking sort of 3***+ with some more special places chucked in along the way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Simon

thinking of doing similar trip this summer. See my thread in the Italy forum.
Considering Strasborg, Interlaken, Lake Maggiore, Parma Verona (via Maranello for Ferrai, Lambo etc) then onto Lake Garda and back through Switzerland via Lugano or Basel etc.
Have at look the the Alpine Roads website for good info on passes such as San Bernardino, Stelvio etc

Seconded, although as it's a honeymoon, perhaps the OP would like it to be just the 2 of them?
If not, then there might be a trip that would be of interest around that time.http://www.alpinerun.com
We're doing something similar for a group in mid September.
Instead of blasting through places, we are actually stopping in two towns for multiple nights so you can actually unload, unpack for 3 nights and see a whole area rather than rushing through it.
The start will be in Andermatt CH on the Sunday evening, and then two full days of taking in all the passes in that area (which there are loads), including heading into Northern Italy for the second day on a bigger loop. The third day will move to Bormio IT taking in all the passes in that direction - of which there are a fair few
Then its 3 nights in Bormio giving you 2 driving days to get in all the passes Trentino and the surrounding area has to offer (eg Stelvio, Umbrial, Bernina and some of the smaller passes like the beautiful Gavia).
We'll be providing full notes and maps which will include a pre-driven route. As long as you can follow our instructions which will be in much more detail than we do for our banger rallies, then you won't get too lost.
We don't book hotels, but will give lists. Quite simply, you book the hotels that match your budget. We'll be getting together each evening of course in a nominated restaurant. Plus if you book your own hotels you get better deals. Groups in our opinion do not get keen prices from the hotels, the people who book individually get the best pricing.
I have spent a lot of time driving all these passes for our banger events, so I won't be wasting your time with motorways. If I get the route right, you won't see one motorway in 5 days
Its is a family friendly run rather than a hard core drive till you drop. You can take whatever vehicle you want, and doesn't have to be a sports car.
