TVR ownership - the end of an era

I have just sold my beautiful Sag and watched it be taken away on the back of a low loader, quite emotional i must say.

On the day before the sale i washed and cleaned the car for the last time as if to say goodbye, took it for a drive and got some last photos of the car :-













Looking at the car i think what have i done, to me the Sag was one awesome looking machine, but for me coming from the T350 the car wasnt what i thought it was going to be and left me a little disappointed.
Early opinions were a car that did handle somewhat better than the T350 but you could never really push on on B roads or bumpy A roads for fear of crashing the front splitter into the road. I was never really taken a back by the acceleration, it didnt seem much quicker than the T350s id had, an upgrade to Cr box and 3.9 diff did help things abit but i alwys felt like it it could have done with another 50 - 70 bhp and certainly more torque.
In my opinion it is a better car than the T350 but another 20k better, well i'm not sure about that one
I looked at a supercharger upgrade but at 20k ish it just seemed too much to make the car what tvr should have when it left the factory.
It certainly is not the 195 mph supercar tvr marketed it as, you be brave to do 150, youd certainly have mega concentration.
Then there were the slight creeks and squeeks, which would come and go, not to bad but i wanted it to be silent apart from the exhaust noise.

So i decided to sell, im sure time will tell whether ive done the right thing, just looking at the pics i think its one of the best looking cars i can think of, and the reaction it got when out on the road was just fantastic, but its little foibles did annoy me.

Anyway i hope you enjoyed the pics, and hope im welcome in the tvr forums at anytime, the years ive had and the people ive met have been great, and the info and advice ive got from PH as been invaluable.

Who knows i maybe back sometime in the future

Same has happened to me, I took pictures of it as it went away on the low loader and I believe the car is now with its new owner who, I'm told, was like a schoolboy when he picked it up. I hope to find out who's got me ole girl and even more that he gives it the tlc it has experienced with me. Hopefully I'll have a great Year and no tax pressure this time around and then I'll be looking for another one - albeit I'll probably have to pay more to get one. Foibles yes, peerless car and ownership experience - for me, absolutely yes. I WILL be a Sag owner again, I've never been so attached to a car

A lot of great things have their little faults and the Sag is no different. I've never owned a T350 but have owned a Tamora and would have to agree that it is easily arguable as to whether the performance difference was worth an extra £20k when new.

For me, the handling is definately a step up and the Sag is just such a rarity and a true British one-off in an age of mass production and uniformity (as are most TVR's). It is also worth remembering that although often compared to GT3's, Ferrari's etc. the TVR is about half the price so the odd flaw must be forgivable when the smile factor can be so high

Nick, cant believe you have done it but suppose sometimes its got to be done hasnt it.
well i hope the new owner realises this is 1 of the best sags around and hope he enjoys it as much as you have done.

you will regret it. i sold mine back in august last year as i was setting up a business and needed the cash. i now pine for it back. everything about it for me was right (except for the leaking window, smell of petrol, wobbles at 140+, and lifting bonnet).

i saw yours for sale - seemed to only be on for a day or so before it was sold. did it go to a dealer? looked stunning.

Sorry to see you go MW, I share views on Sag v. T350.

IMO you're looking at double the budget for motoring perfection, but am sure you'll have fun trying them out!

I'm sure you'll be back in the club before too long... bet you go back and get a 90's TVR or even earlier... just for a change... we all go from modern to retro and back again at least 4 times in our lifetimes!
