...by facelift, what I actually mean is 'arse lift'.

I've just spotted a couple of photos on Evo, I'm not sure I like it too much, the black insert on the rear makes the car look too high off the ground...what's everyone elses onions?

I would post some pics but I'm an amatuer through and through, and its completely different to another forum I reside on....

Well... a very, very mild facelift.

Any upgrades with more power? Not that it really needs more than 520bhp but i hate the fact that a 997TT is faster although has less power. Though i guess it was a bit too close to the SL in terms of outright speed.

Edit - Exhaust looks good.

German Car Blog - According to the head of development at Audi, Ulrich Hackenberg, the R8 will donate its rear suspension and a number of other unspecified components to the Gallardo as part of a mid-life face-lift planned for the midengine two-seater in 2008.

How odd they have made it really heavy looking front and rear far to wide on the plastic bumper parts at the rear, tut tut

Those pictures are from quite a while ago (Very early 2007, maybe even late 2006) and were taken in a US Lambo dealers showroom (Orange County, obvious from the plate wink ).

The car was apparently a bodykit comissioned by the dealer themselves and not a facelift. There are further pictures about somewhere of the car registered on the road with US plates.

I believe Lambopower had more details back when the pictures first surfaced. 99% sure it was just a kit.

Civpilot is correct. Those are photo's of a US made bodykit commissioned by the Lamborghini dealer in OC, California. Details on the facelift are scant but from various sources it appears that we can expect the following changes (this info is by no means definitive): -

Incorporation of elements of the rear suspension plus some other technical attributes from the R8.
The possible use of a modified version of the Audi V10 with DFI and an output somewhere in the region of 550 - 570 bhp.
Modifications to the interior with some bespoke switchgear.
External body modifications. From what I've read these appear to be along the lines of the changes made to the Murci to create the LP640 so may involved restyled front and rear bumpers, possibly new side sill mouldings, the introduction of a new wheel design and revisions to the rear lights. As these plastic body panels and lights will be the least costly items to retool for this would seem to make sense.

Roll on the 6th March!

This is from one of the US sites, I thought most of the talk had been of 560bhp

SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE, Italy — Lamborghini will unveil a face-lifted version of its Gallardo, likely to be called LP550, at the upcoming Geneva show.

The LP550 will be powered by a 5.2-liter V10 with direct-injection technology. Applying some of the high-speed powertrain principles Audi has introduced in its latest RS4 model, the updated Gallardo's FSI power plant will produce 550 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, making it 30 hp and 15 lb-ft stronger than its 5.0-liter predecessor.

The engine isn't the only piece of hardware to receive extensive modifications. Both the manual gearbox and the optional e-gear sequential transmission have been improved and are now capable of sending more power and torque to a lighter, more efficient permanent all-wheel-drive system. Upgraded brakes and a stiffer chassis help to harness the power and improve ride quality.

Designwise, the LP550's more aggressive character is emphasized with a deeply revised body kit, featuring completely restyled front and rear ends, whereas the cockpit remains largely untouched.

Lamborghini hasn't hinted yet at pricing, but with the current Gallardo fetching $182,000 in U.S. trim, expect the LP550 edition to easily top $200,000.

yep - I saw that press item from the States today as well

That car at Lamborghini Orange County must have been an aftermarket-adjusted vehicle... wonder what the Kontrollers at Sant'Ingolstadt thought about that in an officially franchised dealership????

I don't think Lambo have the same attitude as Ferrari when it comes to mods
