It is the hub carriers that are snapped. It is a common thing to happen when it strikes sideways into a curb. When it happened to a fellow in Chicago, Fox Valley charged something like 10-15K to repair it.

Obivously when an Esprit scraps the ground after the wheels fold in there is more damage than just the hub carrier.
