I bought a lovely 360 Spider and now need to ensure her. Direct line want £2600, Tesco £1900, - any suggestions?

Cheers

May I suggest you modify your question to:

Who is best to insure my 360 Spider with?

Cheapest generally mean sh1ttiest with anything (insurance included) and with a car like that, you don't want sh1tty....

So you buy a quality car and look for poor quality cover!(by the way not the cheapest)

So you buy a 360 and then insure it with a supermarket.

Good move.

Not.

Get real and go through Chubb Masterpiece.

I think the problem is that most people see insurance as just a tick in the box, something you need to have by law. If you crash your car or it's nicked you call the insurance company up and they payout (In an ideal world smile ). That's why people compare insurance on price alone. I've never claimed on my motor insurance, so besides asking for new quotes I've had no contact with my insurers in 15+ years. This is why I have always compared insurance on price alone.

I'm willing to be educated though, can someone tell me what the benefits are of a premium/specialist insurance policy?

Insurance is one of those things that you only find out how good is when you actually have to use it.

You have never claimed therefore it's just £xxx 'down the drain' every year because you've never had an accident/loss.

Poor insurance means poor payout, poor repairs, poor service, etc. Everybody thinks "It's an insurance company. I crash, they pay out, job done"
Not so. Crashing your car is enough stress without fighting an insurance company for weeks/months trying to get what you're owed.

If you drive a £500 bargain barge, go for Callcentre.co.uk and pay the least you can get away with - if you total the thing, it won't be the end of the world.

However, if like our friend the OP, you drive a Ferrari or other premium car go somewhere you know is decent.

Put it this way, say you crash your Ferrari but it's not a total loss. It can be repaired. Yay.

You phone up callcentre.co.uk and they say "No problem sir, just run it along to one our our 'approved repairers'"

"No, no" You say.
"It's a Ferrari - shouldn't I run it down to Concessionaires at Egham for them to sort out?"

"Sorry sir, we only authorise repairs from our approved centres. Now, if you'd just like to take the car to Bodgit and Scarper Body Repairs at this address they'll sort everything out for you"

"Oh fvck"

Cheers lads, I call Micheal Ward tomorrow.

I liked the idea of Direct line as they have anti vandalism as part of it which doesn't effect no claims.

I liked Tesco as my 996 turbo was with them and when I had a problem they were very good, as they were when I got burgled last year. Both times I had a full payout in 7 days.

Still I fully agree I need a good policy and it's not just a price thing so will make some more calls.

Thanks for your help lads.

P.S I bought the car via Dion as discussed - you were all right, he is top man and sorted me out with a lovely example very quickly at a very good price. Thank you :-)

Having a Ferrari insured through Tescos and the like is like wearing an Armani suit with socks and jesus creepers-just don't.

As everyone else has said Michael Ward-no messing, they are simply awesome. How many insurers will give you there mobile phone number? Thats the level of service.

Lots and lots of guys on here use them and I was tipped off about them from here to-Top Stuff!

Yeah, I went with these too, Chris is a great guy to talk to. Very helpful, and if you're really that bothered about price, they're still the best option!

They saved me £1200 over the next cheapest quote. And £4000 compared to the rest.
