24k mile service

Hi all

I read in a noble car ad that the owner had done the big 24k mile service at 1,300 quid.

What does it entail? Is it cam belt change, clutch etc?

The reason i ask is that i'm looking at a car with exactly 23k on the clock and want to know if this work has been done or not.

My clutch and gearbox were inspected during my diff repair and the garage reckon there is at least 25K miles worth of use left for both (very rough guestimate obviously trying to take random events into account) before they should need replacing. Current mileage is about 26,500.

I think the servicing often costs that much when done at the big-name dealers and garages - mine was nothing like that much.

As mentioned, no cambelt.

Mate, I paid around £500 for mine with an MOT to boot.

Looks as though there isn't normally a big 24k service.

I don't know which garage the work was carried out.

24k Service - £750 at a Noble official service centre.

Problem is that when you take the car in for something relatively expensive there's always the temptation to do other little bits while it's there, which can add up. Might just be some niggly bits and pieces that you can live with for a bit getting sorted, plus the service. My services almost always involve getting rear tyres too.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear but for the record:

The service was with the TVR Centre and included a new exhaust manifold, ball joints and braided hoses. The bill was the Princely sum of £1314.34 (to be pedantic!)

Further to this I've just had it MOT'd for 12 months, paid the insurance for 12 months and with spring around the corner, have decided I can't bear to be parted from it, so it's no longer for sale.

SJC - out of interest, what's the Holden like? I keep looking at the ever falling prices of 2nd hand VXRs and may be tempted once they can be had for around the early £20k's.

Seems like it could be the perfect stable companion for the 3R, although it looks like you have taken it a couple of steps further with an M400 AND a 3R???

That's just plain greedy in my book
