It did it a few weeks ago too, but then went away. Today though, every time I re started the engine it did it. I checked the engine was still there, it was, then put some oil in so it should be fine tomorrow...

Mine did this as well last week sitting in a traffic jam. Cancelled it using mode button but came back on twice in a 20 minte period. Engine didn't show any sign of overheating and I did turn the engine off when we weren't showing any signs of moving forward.

Not done it since and has been said, seems to yet another little quirk.

well I just booted her up to see, and it did it again.....

Is there any way of getting fault codes? The engine ticks over nicely, there's just a small rattle in the engine when the revs are coming down after revving it up, not even noticeable with the bonnet down...

Had check engine for the first 5 months at a very very very regular interval.

Not a problem, but the fix for mine was a new set of o2 sensors that the nice men at Greens fitted.

Sorted.

try with the clutch depressed to see if the rattle goes. As for codes yes you can get them off with any compatible odbII reader but the reader you get has to use the same protocol as the RO, not sure whch one it has to be! They are available via ebay though.

Or efilive can do it, or a trip to your vaux garage

Generic codes will come off with any obdii reader, but it needs the VPW protcol for the older stuff and CAN for the newer LS2+ stuff.
You can ask what the code was and read up on it if that sort of thing takes your fancy. Im sure Stigmund knows a few of by heart now smile
