Fuel Tank Breather

Guys, i have noticed after ive had the engine running for a while a vacuum has developed in the fuel tanks (big hiss when i take caps off).
im running twin tanks -12 balance pipes top and bottom of tank with a -10 feed into a t-piece and then into my fuel pump. car is carb not efi.

do any of you use breathers on the tanks?what are the little nozzles on the underside of the filler necks?

Those are the breathers. You need to run a pipe down from each to just below chassis.
You may find that the rubber of the inlet is moulded over those nozzles and will need to be cut open. It is done that way so the user has the option of using the nozzles or not.

Yep, the little rubber moldings on the underside of the filler. The need the filler neck puncturing and the pipe fed to ground. All in the destructions I fink???

Just use a small drill and twist it by hand up the little pipe. Its only rubber so it's easy to pierce.

Do you just leave the vent open or have you put some kind of filter on the pipe as well?

Normal road cars have a charcoal filter connected to the vent pipes. You could do the same in order to save the whales and to stop global warming....

How much ozone depleting gas is produced in the manufacturing process of charcoal filters compared to the gases vented from my fuel tank?

Run a small pipe of it to the Floor of the engine bay... So if you ever roll the car the fuel wont piss out..... God Forbid, but you never know.... Saw a F250 truck yesterday change lanes not realising there was not another lane to go to. He was then faced with no way back and on coming traffic as he just passed the Meridian, and had 2 Lorries and a car coming at him at 80km an hour, he must have been doing 90km.... Missed everything, but was lucky....
