new battery solves stalling problem?

I finally got around to putting a new battery in my tuscan the other weekend and have driven the car a few times since, its very strange but it seems to have solved several problems that I didnt think it would have any effect on,
Firstly the car now starts, OK I expected this, thats why I did it!
When starting from cold I no longer have to ride the gas to keep revs just over 1000 to stop it from stalling, it would constantly cut out if I let the revs drop with the old battery, its lumpy which is to be expected from cold but does not cut out at all (used to do it with the error L IIRC)
Car used to stall even when nice and warm in traffic every once in a while, I could normally preempt it and give the throttle a blip, no sign of it at all now.
door now open "on demand" rather than with a one or two second delay, I used to have this problem even when the engine was running (with a tired battery I'd expect it when the engine is stopped)
Could this be down to the new battery, or maybe because I had the battery disconnected for about 30 mins whilst I faffed about removing the old one and putting the new on in place and all the electronics had a chance to "reset" themselves? ECU, Door controls etc?
Im not complaining of course! quite pleased with the results!
