I may get to go to the British Grand Prix this year as a Grandstand steward, have been told you are essentially paid to watch the race so was wondering if anyone else had done it and whether it's really that simple?

Are you sure you get paid? i Thought it was volunteer work for the BRDC. :s Even if you don't get paid, doing it for free is better than paying the fees for proper entry.

I think Grandstand stuff is through extrastaff so you will get paid whatever they pay.

Incident, Flag, Paddock, Pit, Spectator Marshals etc are engaged by the RACMSA and receive a 'subsistence' of around £5 a day IIRC, they do get in for free plus free Camping and one extra free ticket
