Been paying PES 08 and my current level is on Beginner its a really close game I lose as many as I win, Amature is just too easy.

The only buttons I use is the ones that come up on the screen before the game starts. so Tackle, pressure, Keeper out, shoot, pass, long pass.

Honestly having too many buttons and moves I just confuse myself ( maybe its the age ) however what one move or trick would help me get the edge alot more in game play ?

Plan is to master one or two more and then move on from there.

Tricks won't win you the game, solid play will. Master the through-ball would be my suggestion, you'll go offside a lot and it will get intercepted a lot, but it will also come together well quite often and give you a great chance at goal.

Yeah I do use the thru ball alot, there is a move when you are running onto a player in defence where you can just touch the ball to the side and take him on, just changing direction does not seem to do it.

There's a full listing of the moves here:

I personally just use the basics when playing my mate, he's well into his tricks, doing stepovers and turns, but it's usually a close game as I play football ala 1966 England.

I would, but I don't own the latest one, last one I have is PES6. Realised the only time I play it is round my mate's house, so I decided not to bother for this latest edition.

I'll be getting this for the 360 soon. Agreed with the solid play as I laugh at my mates who try the tricks which slows them down, easy slide tackle! If on a losing streak i'll put two forwards up the wings quite far forward when manually adjusting their position in the game menu. Some long balls up the wing can create some great heading oppourtunities.

I play this, and I don't use any fancy tricks, just try to make sure my passes stick and I usually try going down the wings.

My master league is on the middle setting (like 3 star on PES6) but am also doing a league against my mate on 4 star which i'm 4th in.

I tried one match on the hardest difficulty, and I won it 2-1, so tricks aren't necessary really, it just ends up being an opportunity to mess up and lose possession.

Has the lag been sorted out now? I got the PS2 version when it was first released but it was unplayable, which is bloody annoying as I played online the previous version all the time.

I've now got a PS3, but unless the online play is resolved, I don't
