Driving Lights ...

Top priority for me is to sort out visibility on my nighttime driving - bottom line I can't see anything with the regular headlights. The current headlights are clean and properly adjusted. Looking at them head on they actually look quite bright.

Anyhow - my question relates to driving lights. Does anyone have any advice on which lights I should fit? Whilst the option is there to replace the bonnet with the later, built-in fog/driving lights - the cost is way too prohibitive. Added to this is the fact that a previous owner clearly had some fitted, as the mounting brackets are still there.

Would the fitting of additional lights impact the air intake?

Have you thought of upgrading your bulbs rather than going for stuck on bits that shouldn't be there.. how about quartz halogens?

If you go into a motor-factors and tell them you want bulbs for competition use (not on the road) you'll be able to get some of those blue halogens in REALLY bright ratings.. (but don't use them on the road )

I just upgraded my headlights with Xenon Gas bulbs for 15quid. They claim 30% more light and this seems to be the case. Saying that they are still not as good as the modern multibulb systems but are are well worth the money and simplicity.

I have uprated bulbs and a small set of oblong set of spots (white light ones - from Halfords ('Ring' I think)) fitted in the air intake which to me looks very good and does improve matters slightly - I have them wired to come on with dipped or main beam if required - they are so low they dont bother most drivers - I can e-mail you a picture if you wish.

I was speaking to a dealer the other day - apparantly TVR are fitting uprated bulbs to all Chimeras - 80/100w - whether these are any better than the Xenon ones etc I don't know.
