Well Saturday is my first attempt to getting the wedge running on the new Emerald EMS system.

The new bosch (044) pump is fitted and the first job is to fire it all up (again) and check for leaks and then check the fuel pressure is still 43psi - should be as I've not altered the adjustable pressure thingie..

Then it's a deep breath and try to identify the main relays and fuse for the ECU and starting circuit.

Next need to check the coil packs and leads fit and look for a likely mounting position / lead length whilst keeping in mind routing of sensor wiring..

Then wire in a new main earth lead direct to the battery and then tap into the ignition power (relay) for the new EMS, coil packs and lambda system controllers..

If I manage to get the lambda and display (AFR and EGT) running alongside the existing Lucas system by the end of Saturday I'll be chuffed to bits..

My multi meter is OK .. the main car battery is not terribly fit but it's holding 12.3 volts - so will do for now.

Well - objective achieved.

Yes - got heating in the garage but it was getting cold by around 16:30 ..

Did hit a snag in that the clutch was seized - so I took a brave pill - put some foam in front of the car and pushed the car up to the garage wall.. put it in 3rd and dipped the clutch and turned the starter..

At that point I prayed that it would shake the clutch loose - else I would be thru the wall and in a rather surprised neighbours garden !

Luckily the clutch un-seized smile There is a god !

Forgot to add that I need to cut a new hole in the bulk head for the new wires using an arbor.

For some odd reason I'm going to keep the old loom.. can't quite figure out why yet..

Anyway - due to the A/C on the SEAC that made finding space a problem - must have spent an hour looking and quite some time identifying the relays - I have now marked the main and fuel relays.. and have a power and Negative ready for the new ECU.

Anyway - it started first time and I was chuffed to bits :

Here is the display unit :

and a close up of the figures - AFR is air to fuel ratio and ETG is exhaust gas temp :

Sorry for the lazy photo's .. not turning off flash etc .. but it was getting cold and I was in a hurry to get down the road for a well deserved beer

It _is_ cold - according to your pics! And still the Gulf paint on the bonnet.

And there was me thinking (from the title) you were going to respray to a nice metallic green colour...
