It's back again!
The bloody "Tizz" at around 2000rpm and 4000rpm.
The question is what do I do to get rid of it?

Eliseparts have a replacement flexipipe for a little under £130. Should I get this or is it time t replace the remainder of the system with a Larini (already got a clubsport back box)?

Any advice welcome? If there's a quick fix then please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

When this happened to mine it was the exhaust flexi - i'd give that a try first

Tiny leaks can whistle and sound exactly like a tizz. A little spot welding might be in order.

Stoopid question, but I assume you have already fitted the factory fix 'anti tizz bracket'?

not sure if it's had the tizz bracket fitted.
How can I tell?
and where can I get one?

You can tell by taking off the undertray and looking at the exhaust system.

The 'tizz' is caused by the exhaust vibrating at certain reasonant frequencies. Lotus' solution was to offer a simple bracket that braced the exhaust system back against the engine block, to restrict the reasonance. Surprisingly few cars have it fitted though - some didn't suffer from 'tizz', others had owners who didn't know the bracket was available or who just weren't bothered by the noise.

You can buy the bracket from Bell & Colvill for literally a few quid, so it's worth trying before you waste time and money on anything else.

SUCCESS!

Had the under trays off this morning and as soon as I got under the car the problem was obvious. The hole in the undertray where the flexi pipe is visible had been vibrating against the pipe itself. This had in fact caused damage to the aluminum to the point where it was fraying (the aluminum that is, not the pipe).

A nice bit of filing down and reshaping of the hole in the under tray and hey presto!
No more Tizz!

P.S.
No Anti Tizz bracket installed but after a good 40 mile drive this afternoon I can confirm problem solved.

Thanks for all the help and advice.
